Superb Owl’s Trailer Hootenanny #2

Friday night is trailer night and it’s me, Superb Owl, back to look over the teasers and trailers which dropped over the past week. Did you have a nice Valentine’s day? I didn’t bother with any romance myself – with all the wind and rain, it was too wet to woo.  Ahem.

The Incredibles 2 (UK Release Date: 13th July 2018)

So this week was all about the impending return of cinema’s greatest superhero family. With the original having a credible claim to be the best superhero movie of all time, the stakes are super-high for this sequel, directed again by Brad Bird, so you know I’m a fan. There’s not much to go on in this sneak peak but super-powered parenting is good for a chuckle although let’s hope there’s a more meaty plot waiting in the wings for the rest of the movie. Still, as long as Edna Mode is back, I’m super-sold!

Ready Player One (UK Release Date: 29 March 2018)

Another trailer for Spielberg’s forthcoming nostalgia-epic. Thus far, despite the talent involved, it’s a movie I’ve struggled to give a hoot about. The mishmash of “Tron” and “Minority Report” aesthetics and the frenetic CGI action aren’t wowing me. Still, each successive trailer is a little better than the one before and I’m hoping that, on the big screen, this is one movie which will make my head spin.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events: Season 2 (UK Release Date: 30 March 2018)

I’m sure I’m not owl by myself in being a fan of the Jim Carrey-starring feature film but it has to be said, the Netflix adaptation of “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” managed to blend well with the movie while carving out a distinct approach for itself, thanks in huge part to a winning performance from Neil Patrick Harris taking over the odious role of Count Olaf. With the second of a confirmed three-season run returning on March 30th, there’s not much longer to wait before we can get back to the lamentable suffering of those poor Baudelaire orphans.

Hoot Rating:

That’s all for this week so until more new trailers hit, Owl be seeing you!
