Super Movie Secret Wars – Third Round Day 2

Day three of the second round delivered its share of casualties. The effortlessly charming Batman: The Movie was unable to overcome the Age Of Ultron and while Doctor Strange ultimately triumphed in a close-run race with Iron Man 2, it’s safe to say The Rocketeer did nazi its crushing defeat at the hands of The Winter Soldier coming.

Kick-Ass held on in the face of a stronger than expected challenge from Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer but it was relatively straightforward for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Logan and Ant-Man as they brushed off Swamp Thing, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies, Thor: The Dark World and 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

While Infinity War found dispensing with Venom a snap, The Wolverine made short work of X-Men Origins and Captain America: The First Avenger froze out Batman Forever, it was squeaky bum time for The Dark Knight as it saw off a strong challenge from Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins held off Deadpool 2. In more bad bat-news, subversive satire Super ended 1989’s Batman run and there were further upsets as Blade II unexpectedly bested Black Panther and the Synderistas will be long-celebrating Watchmen taking out Captain Marvel when it came to a binary choice.

So, put on your vote armour and power your way to the polls to choose who gets through to the fourth round.  These eight matches close at 1800 BST on April 20th so make sure you vote before then! In the event of a tie, the match will go to a sudden-death penalty shoot-out Twitter poll. If that’s still a tie, I’ll toss a coin.

Let’s have a good clean fight and may the best/ most influential/ most important/ most fun movie win!

Fury’s initiative takes on Whistler’s mutha in a Marvel-ous generational showdown. Can the Daywalker prevail against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?

Baymax may have met his match in Wolverine, an individual notably dissatisfied with his previous medical care but all those claws may be for nought if Baymax has brought his sticky tape with him.

They’re both fans of zoot-suit fashion and both have had their run-ins with the powers of Loki but only one can emerge victorious from this showdown.

Asgard ends versus Batman Begins. Will the Odinson be able to tackle Thomas Wayne’s son? Bruce won’t kill Thor, but he doesn’t have to lose to him either…

Batman Returns to the competition only to come face to face with the Mad Titan himself. There’s precious little Christmas spirit on show as Avengers: Infinity War looks to reduce the number of movies in the competition by half.

You either die in an earlier round, or you live long enough to see yourself come up against The Dark Knight. Will Professor X be able to book his team a First Class ticket to the next round?

There’ll be no solace for either movie in this match as Doctor Manhattan takes on the quantum know-how of Hank Pym and his particles!

Magic versus mechanics as shiny new Shazam! takes on the dirty beat-up Super to see who will make it to the next round.
