I want to watch Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, but…

Looking across social media, it seems like Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is either an unholy mash-up of the worst of Kurstzman and Dawson’s Creek or the Platonic ideal of Star Trek itself.

So of course I want to watch it and make up my own mind, there’s just one problem: I’m so far behind! I can’t remember when or why I stopped keeping pace with Star Trek. I only know that before I can enroll as Starfleet Academy, I feel like I need to watch seasons four and five of Star Trek: Discovery, season three of Star Trek: Picard (I know, I know), seasons three through five (actually episode 6 of Season Two onwards) of Star Trek: Lower Decks, season two of Star Trek: Prodigy and any of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

So I’m declaring 2026 Craggus’ year of Trek – the ultimate Trek Trek to catch up on everything I’ve missed and then – and only then – will I watch Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

So from February 10th, starting with Picard season 2, I’ll be catching up with every Trek I’ve missed in time to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the original Star Trek on 8 September 2026!
